Many trauma scenarios can happen and result in the need for professional help to respond to the cleanup of the situation's aftermath.  Not just any cleaning company can provide you with the required level of services. It requires a company experienced in trauma scene recovery.

What Are the Specific Circumstances Considered to be Trauma Scene Cleanup?

  • General crime scenes

Includes the removal of evidence gathering residues such as teargas, pepper spray, chemicals to highlight organic wastes and splatter, and fingerprint powder, among others)

  • Suicide, homicide, and unattended death

Includes bodily fluids and tissue removal on surfaces and spaces where those substances migrated (cracks, crevices, subfloors, building cavities). It can require the use of agents to illuminate the migration of infectious and otherwise dangerous substances.

  • Infectious disease, viral, and microbial contamination

Includes specialized cleaning treatments using EPA-registered products to remove microbial from the indoor environment thoroughly.

  • Illegal Drug Distribution or Manufacturer

Includes containing and clean-up of the space and residues with exceptional care because the remnants and residues of drugs can be deadly when inhaled or contaminate a person's skin.

Should I Perform the Cleaning Myself?

Consumer cleaning products are inadequate for safely and thoroughly removing the types of residues found at trauma scenes. A person can unwittingly put themself and their family in harm's way by not knowing the risks and the correct protocols. Because of the many potential dangers, our employees wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to guard against infection, ingestion, absorption (through skin contact), or inhalation of the biohazards encountered. Our professional trauma scene cleanup technicians are trained and have earned certifications in this discipline. This is not a job for the amateur.

Who Pays for the Cleanup?

Insurance policies often cover the cleanup costs. Public agencies may take on the cost or recommend funding sources in other situations.

Commercial Fire Damage Restoration Tips

Damage caused by fire presents a difficult challenge to many commercial income property owners and business owners. Fires can be catastrophic and cause a great deal of property loss. Soot and smoke damage can destroy your business and interrupt or stop operations until odor removal and restoration are complete. Commercial fire damage can stop revenue and may even lead to the closure of your business operations.

Evaluate the Property Damage

The extent of property damage helps to determine the costs associated with commercial fire damage at your business. Work closely with your insurance company when a fire happens.

Fire Cleanup

Fire cleanup after commercial fire damage should commence immediately to minimize fire, soot damage, and smoke damage and speed up the business's reopening. Involving the insurance company from the start of fire cleanup ensures insurance company covers all costs included in your policy. Take plenty of photos of the damage.

SERVPRO of El Centro is here to help victims of fire damage manage and clean up the damage and return their property to its preloss condition.

Asbestos is found in many El Centro Buildings.

Discovering Asbestos During Renovation of Your El Centro Office

At one time, Asbestos was so prevalent in our commercial buildings because Asbestos was used in certain floorings, plaster, insulation, roofing felt, and other materials. It took decades for California and other states to recognize the potential health effects caused by the heavy use of Asbestos in construction. It remains a substantial concern for homeowners and business owners even today, especially in public buildings. During renovations and repair work of buildings, the possibility of encountering asbestos-laden materials increases significantly and becomes an issue during demolition. During demolition Asbestos dust can pollute the indoor environment if preventative measures are not taken to protect the air quality.

SERVPRO of El Centro can help you with property renovation. We are certified in the containment and removal of asbestos (called abatement) for El Centro structures. We become certified through the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and our experience and work is tested and accredited by the California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA.) Here is a consumer tip: It is important to note that all contractors must produce a current license number and Cal/OSHA registration number to legally advertise or perform asbestos abatement and removal tasks for any property in California.

The reason that asbestos removal is regulated is that airborne fibers may present a potential health risk.  Once asbestos fibers are disturbed, the fibers can circulate throughout the interior environment and become a substantial challenge to clean up and remove. Our SERVPRO of El Centro professionals uses sophisticated HEPA air cleaning equipment, containment measures, and personal protective equipment to perform abatement correctly. The regulations that control asbestos abatement companies also specify how and where to safely discard asbestos-laden debris/material that has been removed from the building.

Most property owners understand the severity of the situation when addressing asbestos concerns. If you are unsure if you have asbestos in your building, please call SERVPRO.

We can perform a test and help you scope out a plan for its removal. Please call our SERVPRO of El Centro / Salton City team of professionals today at (760) 337-5858.

Helping Businesses Stay Strong After Water Damage to an El Centro Restaurant

Through years of helping local service sector businesses with water removal projects and other time-sensitive damage restoration procedures, we at SERVPRO know all too well that we have to work fast to get your doors open faster and avoid as much revenue loss as possible. All of our commercial procedures focus on timeliness to get you back to normal operations faster. Still, we also take care to do our work thoroughly and leave your place looking "Like it never even happened."

Getting Doors Open Faster

Depending on how extensive the need for water removal for your restaurant in El Centro is, you may very likely need to close doors for the entire duration of our drying and restoration procedures. Because every day of work means lost revenue for you, we prioritize sending our best crews and resources to local businesses with time-sensitive issues like flooding or widespread water damage. If the building contains any standing water, we use our powerful truck-mounted extraction pumps to remove this water as quickly as possible. Once this process finishes, we set up a careful arrangement of air movers and dehumidifiers that can take moisture out of the floors and other materials and collect it into disposable containers. Through these specially-designed tools and procedures, we can complete most water removal projects within one week.

Thorough Work Is Essential

Making sure we remove all water possible from your establishment is just as important to us as getting the job done quickly. Customers tend to notice even minute signs of damage, such as a warped patch of carpeting or a discolored stain on baseboards. Sometimes, we even have to come in and help out a business that received water removal service from someone else or allowed the drying to happen over time but still shows signs of damage that can drive away customers. We apply a rigorous evaluation process to ensure that no spot of water damage remains untouched and specialize in restorative procedures that return the building interior to the exact state it was in before the disaster.

SERVPRO of El Centro / Salton City is an expert provider of property damage mitigation and restoration services for businesses in the area. Call us immediately after a disaster at (760) 337-5858.

SERVPRO Helps Restaurants Get Back to Business from Water Damage

Is Water Damage Stopping Your Business? Call SERVPRO today.

Plumbing issues disrupt routines in a home, and it is even worse when it results in a water damage event in a place of business. Allow us to share a story about a restaurant in El Centro.

SERVPRO answered an early morning phone call from a restaurant that suffered water damage in El Centro from a broken seal on a supply line. The flooding happened overnight and was discovered when an employee arrived in the early morning hours to open the popular restaurant and taqueria. She found the floor flooded with a half-inch of water. She immediately shut off the water and mopped up as much as possible. When the owner arrived and saw the damage, he thought it would be best to have the restaurant professionally dried. The owner called, SERVPRO of El Centro.

Our goal with most commercial cleanup jobs is to do our best to keep a business open. In this situation, when we arrived on site, we advised the owner to close the business until the late afternoon. We were concerned about the danger of slip and fall accidents. For safety, the closure of the eatery was necessary during the cleanup.

Our technicians set to work; they used moisture detection meters to locate hidden moisture pockets in walls and under counters. The standing water was extracted. We removed the baseboards so warm dry air could be forced onto the soleplate (wood base) of the wall, under cabinets, and the kitchen equipment. Removing the baseboard allowed our team to spray anti-microbial treatments everywhere that the moisture had penetrated. This prevented the growth of bacteria and mold.

Because we were able to arrive quickly and get to work with our water extraction and cleanup, it wasn’t too long until we were setting up our restoration drying equipment. In an hour, the floors were completely dry (and clean) which removed the risk of slip hazards. Our driers were operated until just before the dinner service. However, there were portions of walls that still had elevated moisture, so we re-installed the drying equipment as soon as the restaurant closed that evening. The drying equipment ran all night and the following day until they opened for lunch. In all, the restaurant only lost one lunch service.

Commercial water damage should always be professionally cleaned to ensure the property is left clean and sanitary. Professionals also know how to reduce business interruption. SERVPRO of El Centro / Salton City at 760) 337-5858 is available 24/7 to turn around damage from water to your business, so it is "Like it never even happened."

What Does Discoloration in the Ceiling Tiles in my El Centro Business Mean?

10/3/2022 (Permalink)

water stains on ceiling tiles Stains on ceiling tiles indicate there is a water intrusion problem.

Discoloration in the Ceiling of Your El Centro Business can Point to a Bigger Water Problem

Often business owners in El Centro fail to recognize early warning signs of a water leak. When they detect discoloration in a ceiling tile, the leak has become a bigger problem and often requires professional help for pipe and or roof repair . Rather than using a wait-and-see approach, take action to prevent undesirable consequences. Property problems always grow worse as time passes

Water damage mitigation and restoration can be entrusted to SERVPRO. Our experience in commercial settings helps guide our action plan by minimizing the disruptions to your daily operations. Our certified team will scope the problem and propose a reasonable plan of action. We always do our best to keep the establishment open for operation.

Does discoloration in the ceiling mean I have mold?

Your ceiling may be showing signs of water damage, but that does not necessarily equate to mold. Our SERVPRO team can help you make that determination by using industry-specific tools to detect the presence of microbial growth and eliminate it accordingly. Some of the indicators for mold become evident when you ask yourself the following questions:

  • Has the leak been there for a long time?
  • Does the discoloration have a musty smell?
  • Do the spots look textured?

Our SERVPRO team examines these questions along with the general state of the space and decides on the next steps. Contrary to popular belief, mold does not go away on its own, nor does it grow only if your place is dirty. Excess indoor humidity or material dampness are the breeding ground for mold, regardless of your geographic location or cleanliness.  First action, address the cause of the elevated moisture. Next, remediate the area to thoroughly remove mold and its’ spores. EPA-approved antifungal solutions can be used to help prevent a recurrence. (However, the cause of the excess moisture must be solved.) Each step is done with industry best practices in mind and thoroughly documented for your records.

Water damage mitigation and restoration is essential to prevent mold followed by proper mold remediation procedures.

Once you notice evidence of water damage on your ceiling, quick action is necessary.  Contact SERVPRO for effective remediation services. SERVPRO of El Centro/Salton City is your partner in this journey. Call us at (760) 337-5858 and let us work with you to leave your business in a condition "Like it never even happened."

¿Qué Significa una Descoloración En El Techo de Mi Negocio?

6/5/2020 (Permalink)
